Fargo, ND- The IPFW women's soccer team began its two-match Dakota swing on Friday afternoon against North Dakota State at the Ellig Sports Complex. Despite first half goals from Tara O'Toole and Rhea Proctor, the Mastodons picked up their first loss in Summit League play, falling 3-2 to the Bison.

Playing in winter-like conditions in Fargo, the Mastodons got the ball rolling early, as O'Toole put the 'Dons ahead 1-0 at the six minute mark, with her third goal of the season. IPFW held the lead midway through the first half, until the Bison tied up the score at the 23rd minute mark, thanks to a Lorriane Thompson header into the Mastodon goal. Two minutes later, Rhea Proctor scored her second goal of the season with a shot into the far post, giving IPFW the lead once again at 2-1. O'Toole picked up the assist on the successful goal.
While it appeared the 'Dons would take a one goal lead into halftime, the home team stormed back with a goal late in the first half. In the 43rd minute, Bison Shannon Brooks evened the score at 2-2 with her first goal of the season.
The score remained tied 2-2 until the 67th minute, when North Dakota State took the lead off a Candice D'Arcangeli shot past a sliding Kristen McFadden. With under 20 minutes left in the contest, the Bison led 3-2.
Although the Mastodons had their chances late in the contest,, the Bison defense held their ground in front of its home crowd, winning the match 3-2 over IPFW.
