Evanston, IL – The IPFW Mastodons fell to the Northwestern Wildcats in non-conference action on Sunday afternoon, 78-58, as Stephanie Rosado and Eva Ivanova each reached double figures with 12 and 11 points, respectively.
Rosado hit 4-of-13 shots from the field and all four of her charity stripe attempts, with Ivanova making 5-of-11 shots, and 1-of-4 from long range. Chelsey Jackson missed double figures by one with nine, as Anne Boese chipped in six. Rosado pulled down nine rebounds to tie for best on the squad, as Jordan Zuppe dished out three assists.
The two teams traded baskets to start the game, Northwestern’s from All-American candidate Amy Jaeschke, and IPFW’s from Zuppe before the Wildcats ran off an 11-2 run to lead by nine, with the hosts never trailing in the contest.
Northwestern’s lead grew to 13 following a Jaeschke lay-in, before the Mastodons fought back, closing the gap to six following a pair of Jackson free throws with just under six minutes left in the opening period. The Wildcats answered by scoring eight straight points to push the lead to 14 just over two minutes later.
A Jackson three-point basket put the deficit to single digits again, before Northwestern scored seven of the final nine points of the period to lead 40-26 heading into the locker room at halftime.
Northwestern’s lead fluctuated between 14 and 24 points the rest of the way, as the Mastodons cut the deficit to 20 at the final horn.
Jaeschke scored a game-high 18 points, with Kendall Hackney and Maggie Mocchi scoring 12 and 10, each. Jaeschke also led the team with nine rebounds and five blocked shots.
The Mastodons return to the court on Friday, November 27, when the team will play host to Eastern Illinois University at the Hilliard Gates Sports Center, with tip-off slated for 7:00 PM.
