Mastodons Place Sixth at Butler Spring Invitational

AVON, Ind. - The IPFW women's golf team finished day two of the Butler Spring Invitational Tuesday hosted by Butler University at the Prestwick Country Club, par 72 and yardage 6,090.
The Mastodons stayed in sixth place in the eight team invite with a two day score of 692, only 28 shots behind fifth place University of Detroit Mercy (664). Invite host Butler University was in fifth yesterday but secured fourth place by merely a stroke at (663). The University of Northern Iowa won the Invitational with a two day 645.
Senior Jacque Speece improved on her 89 Monday with a team best 80 during day two to finish tied for 19th with a 169. Senior Alison Rathsman finished with a 173 as did Jillian Speece. Nikki LeRose completed day two with a 93 and freshman Tosha Embry carded a 108 during day two.
The Mastodons finished better than Summit League rival IUPUI (711) and Tennessee State University (792).
Individual honors went to Northern Iowa's Ann Arnason 80-74 (154) who recorded the lowest 18-hole score of the tournament with her day two 74 ( 2).
The Mastodons return to action Sunday, March 29 at the Saluki Invitational at the Hickory Ridge Golf Course in Carbondale, Illinois.
