'Dons Look to Saluki Invite Second Round

CARBONDALE, Ill. - The IPFW women's golf team began the Saluki Invitational Sunday at the par 72, 5,999 yard Hickory Ridge Golf Course. The `Dons currently sit in 13th out of 15 teams with a first round 357, 18 strokes behind SIU-Edwardsville.
The Mastodons were led by junior Jillian Speece Sunday who carded an 83 (40-43), and is currently tied for 25th going into day two. Jacque Speece finished with an 89 (47-42), Alison Rathsman carded a 91, Nikki LeRose and Tosha Embry finished with 94 and 106 respectively.
Host Southern Illinois currently sits tied for third with a first round team score of 322. The rest of the top three are: Drake, 313; Bradley, 321; and Ball State, 322.
Southern Illinois' Katie Laegeler leads all players with a first round 74 ( 2).
The Mastodons will wrap up the Saluki Invitational today, Monday, March 30. The forecast Monday in Carbondale calls for Mostly sunny conditions, with a high near 63. Southeast wind between 6 and 11 mph.
