IPFW Begins North-South Collegiate

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The IPFW women's golf team began its second tournament of the season Monday in Jacksonville, Florida, at the Women's North-South Collegiate hosted by Butler University. After the first day of competition, the Mastodons currently sit at eighth place in the 11 team field.
The `Dons fired a team total of 329 during day one and are only 24 strokes back of tournament leader Bethune-Cookman University which holed a 303. Bethune Cookman is led by tournament leader Fern Grimshaw who shot a 72 ( 2) on the first day.
The event is being played at the par 70, 5810 yard Jacksonville Beach Golf Club.
IPFW was led by senior Alison Rathsman who shot a team-best 75 (38-37) during the first round and currently sits tied for fifth. Jillian Speece had a solid back-nine Monday but shot a 79 (42-37), just two strokes ahead of her older sister Jacque Speece who shot an 81 (43-38). Nikki LeRose shot a 92 for the `Dons and Tosha Embry finished the first day with a 95.
IPFW will conclude the two-day 36 hole tournament Tuesday.
