'Dons Wrap Chicago State's PTSIR Classic

HAMMOND, Ind. - Freshman Alyssa Turney followed up a first round 96, improving by six strokes, as her day two 90 helped the Mastodons to a 10th place finish at the PTSIR Golf Performance Classic, hosted by Chicago State University.
Turney's six-stroke improvement was the top performance of the day as she closed the tournament at 186 (96-90) in a tie for 51st place. Sophomore Tosha Embry, who led the 'Dons in day one action, carded a 107 in round two to close the tournament at 199 overall. Freshman Breanna Hatter posted a 101 today to top her two-round total at an even 200. After carding a 102 yesterday, Jillian Joyce was forced to withdraw from day two action.
Butler held on to the overall lead to win the tournament by seven strokes over Loyola Chicago. Bulldog Molly Fields defeated teammate Michele Nash in a playoff to capture medalist honors.
The Mastodons will return to action next week as they travel to the University of Cincinnati Fall Invitational. The tournament will be held at Elks Run Golf Course in Cincinnati.
