Fort Wayne, IN – The Eastern Illinois offense was too hot for the 'Dons to handle, as the Panthers quickly jumped out to a 4-1 advantage, holding on for a 4-2 victory.
IPFW scored the first and last goals of the match. Sophomore Max Touloute put the 'Dons on the board early. In the 8th minute, Touloute took a cross from Oscar Narvaez and fired a shot to the back post for his team-best fourth score of the season.
The 'Dons second score came in the 79th minute of action, as junior Casey Bowman converted a penalty kick after an Eastern Illinois whistle in the box. Bowman sent the ball past Panther keeper Sean Molony for his third goal of the year.
In the space between the Mastodons' goals, it was all Eastern Illinois, as the Panthers poured the offensive pressure on IPFW. Alex Harrison scored in the 15th minute of play from 15 yards out and Jonathan Hinds converted on a deflected shot from outside the box in the first half of action.
Panthers freshman forward Kyle Bullock added EIU's third and fourth goals within in a six-minute span in the opening minutes of the second half to cap off the Panthers' win.
Eastern Illinois out-shot IPFW 18-11 on the match. Bowman and Touloute led the 'Dons with three and two shots.
Donovan Dowling posted four saves and Eric Fluck posted another to lead the Mastodon defense. The 'Dons will return to the Summit League slate next Friday (Oct. 2) as they travel to Tulsa, Okla. for a 8:30 p.m. matchup with the Golden Eagles.
