Cedar City, UT. - IPFW's women's soccer team wrapped up its 2010 regular season with a 2-1 win over Southern Utah University in Cedar City, Utah on Saturday afternoon.

The Mastodons were able to make their mark on the scoreboard first off of a goal by sophomore Rhea Proctor. Proctor had a shot from 10 yards out off of a pass from sophomore teammate Alaina Jones 23 minutes into the first period giving IPFW the 1-0 lead.

Just four minutes later, sophomore Danielle Bishop sent a cross into the box where junior Felicia Jones headed the ball off a SUU defender sending the it into the back of the net for her fourth goal of the season.

However, the Thunderbirds cut the lead to 2-1 before halftime off of a goal by Missy Lazcano with an assist by Allison Thompson.

In the second period, IPFW had a chance to increase its lead when sophomore Arianne Mason had a opportunity off a through ball from freshman Elise Mamanu-Gray that was saved off the line.

IPFW was able to withstand the offensive pressure applied by SUU throughout the match for the final score of 2-1. The Thunderbirds outshot the Mastodons 23-7.

Kristen McFadden played the full 90 minutes in the net and had a total of 10 saves for the 'Dons.

The Mastodons played a physical match committing 17 fouls, while the Thunderbirds had a total of three fouls. Both teams earned one yellow card each.

The Mastodons finish the season with a 7-9-1 record, the best finish thus far under head coach Margaret Saurin. IPFW will return 10 full-time starters for the 2011 season to make for an experienced team in the Summit League.
