'Dons Finish 11th at Don Benbow Invite

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - In their first tournament of 2010, the Mastodons women's golf squad placed 11th at the Don Benbow North-South Collegiate at Jacksonville Beach Golf Course in Jacksonville, Fla.
Senior Nikki LeRose, kicking off her final season on the tees for the 'Dons, led the squad as she posted a two-day 179 (93-86) to check in at 45th place. Sophomore Tosha Embry followed, as she posted a 95 in both rounds to finish in 54th place.
Freshman Alyssa Turney was one spot behind Embry, as her two-round total of 192 placed her 55th overall in the event.
Freshmen Jillian Joyce and Breanna Hatter posted identical scores of 101 and 105 in the two-round event as they tied for 60th place overall.
The team and medalist honors went to Houston Baptist University. The Huskies shot a 43 (619) on the par 72 course to take home the team title while Paige Gibson shot a 153 (76-77) to capture the individual honor.
The 'Dons will be back in action Thursday as they travel to Crystal Springs, Fla. to compete in Eastern Kentucky University's El Diablo Invitational.
