Indianapolis, IN - Butler scored 13 runs in the first inning and never looked back in blasting IPFW, 28-5 in non-conference baseball action on Wednesday afternoon at Bulldog Park.
After the 'Dons took a 2-0 lead on a two-run single by catcher Cory Miller, Butler responded with their 13 run outburst. Eight of the first nine batters in the Bulldog lineup crossed the plate, and for all intents and purposes, the game was over.
The Bulldogs pounded out a season-high 25 hits in the win, improving 8-13 on the season.
The only bright spots for the Mastodons, who fell to 2-21, were Miller who was 4-5 with three RBI and first baseman A.J. Christensen who was 2-4 with a run scored.
After playing their first 23 on the road, IPFW will finally open at home, hosting Chicago State in a doubleheader on Tuesday, April 6. First pitch is noon.
