
'Dons Seventh After Opening Round at Loyola

EVANSTON, Ill. - Freshman Alyssa Turney posted an opening-round 88 to lead the IPFW squad at the Loyola University Invitational. The Mastodons currently sit in seventh place in the tournament.
Turney posted a 45 on the front nine before closing with a 43 on the 6,073 yard, par-73 course. Her opening round currently places her in a tie for 30th in the 51 player field.
Senior Nikki LeRose followed Turney as she fired a 91 (46-45) in the opening round for a share of 41st place. freshman Breanna Hatter cut nine strokes between the front and back nines, as she carded a 95 (52-43) to put her in 47th place.
Amy Funk-Montgomery posted identical 49s on the front and back with a 98 and Tosha Embry rounded out the IPFW lineup in 51st place with a 104 (51-53).
Summit League foe Western Illinois leads the team total with a 318 after day one while Butler's Michele Nash posted a one-over 74 to lead all players.
Round two action begins tomorrow morning with a 10 a.m. shotgun start.
