Turney Finishes in Ninth Place and Leads 'Dons to a Sixth-Place Finish at WIU Autumn Invite

MACOMB, Ill. - The IPFW women's golf team finished the Western Illinois Autumn Invitational in sixth place after a 36-hole total of 681 (340-341) at the Harry Mussatto Golf Course in Macomb, Ill. on Monday afternoon.
In first place, Loyola finished with a two-round score of 625 while SIU-Edwardsville posted a team score of 635 for second place.
Alyssa Turney continued to lead the Mastodons on day two of the invitational after she carded an 83 to go with her previous round of 80. The junior finished tied for ninth place overall.
Improving three strokes from yesterday, freshman Allison Curtis posted a total score of 171 (87-84) and tied for 23rd place.
Freshmen Ashton Taft and Sydney Bailey as well as sophomore Maggie Talbert, all finished the invitational within three strokes of each other.
Taft posted a second-round score of 92 to finish with 176 (84-92) and tied for 33rd place, while Bailey carded rounds of 89 and 88 to tie for 36th place. Talbert improved six strokes from her first round and fired a round of 86 for her 36-hole total of 178 (92-86) and a 39th place tie.
Senior Tosha Embry competed in the invitational as an individual and finished tied for 44th place after a two-round total of 188 (95-93).
The Mastodons will conclude their fall season next week (Oct. 17-18) at the Dayton Fall Invitational in Dayton, Ohio at the NCR Country Club.
