DEKALB, Ill. - The IPFW women's golf team opened play at the Northern Illinois Huskie Classic on Sunday with a 360 at the Kishwaukee Country Club to stand in 12th place.

Through the first 18 holes, freshman Sydney Bailey and sophomore Maggie Talbert led the Mastodons after they each fired an 88 to tie for 41st place overall.

Just two strokes behind Bailey and Talbert, freshman Allison Curtis sits tied for 50th place overall after she had a first-round total of 90.

Junior Alyssa Turney recorded a 94 to open the day at the 6,015-yard, par 73 layout to tie for 63rd place, while freshman Ashton Taft rounded out the Mastodon lineup with a 96 to tie for 66th place overall.

Out of a field of 12 teams, SIU-Edwardsville sits at top of the leader board with a 328 while Loyola is two strokes behind in second place.

IPFW will return to action tomorrow with the last 18 holes at the Huskie Classic at 9 a.m. EST
