Mason, O'Toole Send IPFW Past IUPUI, 4-1

CARMEL, Ind. - Senior Tara O'Toole and junior Arianne Mason each recorded two goals to send IPFW past IUPUI, 4-1, for the Mastodons second-straight win in the battle of I-69 on Friday evening in Carmel, Ind.
With the win, the 'Dons move to 6-9-1 and 3-4-1 in Summit League action while the Jaguars fall to 3-11-4 and 2-5-1 in conference play.
The 'Dons controlled the ball in the first half, outshooting the Jaguars 11-3 and also having the lone goal of the first 45 minutes.
In the 33rd minute, Mason was able to tap inside the near post off of a corner kick from junior Tylar Allison for the 1-0 Mastodon lead.
IUPUI was able to tie the match in the 56th minute when Alicia Brock had a 10-yard shot that found the back of the net past IPFW senior keeper, Kristen McFadden.
However, the Mastodon's weren't stopping there and continued to press the ball into their attacking half of the field in the second half.
O'Toole had her first goal of the night in the 62nd minute when she was able to thread the ball to the far post off of a double assist from senior Brittany Climmons and junior Lisa Underwood for the 2-1 lead.
In the 76th minute, once again with the help of Allison and also freshman Sydney Hoareau, Mason's 5-yard shot found the middle of the net to put the Mastodons up, 3-1.
With about 30 seconds left on the clock, O'Toole struck again. Off of a pass from junior Danielle Bishop, O'Toole had a 10-yard shot that found the back of the net for the 4-1 Mastodon victory.
The Mastodons outshot the Jaguars, 23-7, while also having an 8-1 advantage in corner kicks. There was a total of 12 fouls for IPFW, including one yellow card, while IUPUI had four fouls and one yellow card.
Underwood led the Mastodons in shots after recording seven shots with two on goal. With their two goals each, Mason tallied a total of five shots while O'Toole had three, including three on goal. Senior Justine LeBlanc had two shots, with two on goal, while Bishop had three shots.
With Allison's two assist against IUPUI, she currently sets the program's record with most assist in a season with six.
The Mastodons return to action on Sunday in their final regular-season match when they take on conference-foe Western Illinois at 1 p.m. EST on Sunday in Macomb, Ill.
