Fort Wayne, IN - The IPFW women's soccer team defeated Butler, 3-2, in an exhibition match on Wednesday evening at the Hefner Soccer Complex in Fort Wayne.
In the 33rd and 34th minute, the 'Dons were able to score two goals to get the lead against the Bulldogs. Off of a double pass from Rhea Proctor and Danielle Bishop, Lisa Underwood was able to shot the ball past BU goalie Julie Burton for the 1-0 lead. A minute later, Tylar Allison put the Mastodons on the board again after scoring off of a corner kick.
Four minutes into the second half, the Bulldogs' Rachel Scott was able to score off of a cross from teammate Ann Zerfas.
In another double assist for the 'Dons, Arianne Mason was able to give IPFW the 3-1 lead with help from Allison and Sydney Hoareau at the 11:38 mark.
A minute later, BU was able to get within one when Katie Griswold got the ball past IPFW goalie Krysta Hedrick.
Butler had many chances to get back into the game, but IPFW's defense kept the score at 3-2.
IPFW finished the match with 11 shots while Butler had 13.
The Mastodons will return to action on Friday in their last exhibition match when they face Eastern Kentucky. Kick off is set for 7:00 PM at Hefner in Fort Wayne.
