GREEN BAY, Wis. - In the first tournament of the 2011 season for the IPFW women's golf team, the Mastodons sit in ninth place after firing a team total of 334 in the Green Bay Invitational at the Green Bay Country Club.
The Mastodons are four strokes back from North Dakota for eighth place. Lewis is in first place with a team total of 309 while Butler is one stroke behind for second place.
In her first tournament in Royal Blue and White, freshman Allison Curtis, a Waterloo, Indiana native, leads the 'Dons after placing 18th overall at the end of the first 18 holes after firing an 80.
Junior Alyssa Turney had one of her best rounds in her IPFW career after shooting a first-round total of 80 to tie for 23rd place going into the second round.
One stroke behind Turney and tied for 31st place is freshman Ashton Taft. Taft, a Fort Wayne native and Snider High School alum, posted an 83 in her Mastodon debut.
Sophomore Taylor Lamphier tied for 55th place after shooting an 89 while sophomore Maggie Talbert rounds out the Mastodons lineup tied for 58th place overall after posting a one-round total of 91.
Playing as an individual, freshman Sydney Bailey had an impressive round after firing an 83 to tie for 31st place.
IPFW will return to action tomorrow in the second and final round of the Green Bay Invitational with a shotgun start of 8:30 a.m.
