VALPARAISO, Ind. - The IPFW women's golf team put up its third lowest 36-hole total in the programs history after posting a team score of 647 (327-320) at the Valpo Invitational in Valparaiso, Indiana.
The Mastodons carded a 320 on day two of the invite to tie for the program's fourth best overall round and finished eighth out of 13 teams at the Course of Aberdeen.
The host school, Valparaiso, finished three strokes ahead of IPFW for seventh place. Butler led throughout the invitational and finished with a team total of 612 while Loyola finished in second place with 628.
Freshman Sydney Bailey continued to lead the Mastodons on day two after she shot a low 76 to post a total score of 156 (80-76) to finish tied for ninth overall at the invitational. Bailey fired three birdies in the second round to finish the invitational with a total of five.
Two strokes back from Bailey, freshman Allison Curtis finished tied for 19th place after firing a 78 to go with her previous round of 82.
Sophomore Alyssa Turney posted an 81 in her final round to after yesterday's score of 82 to tie for 25th place at 19 (163).
Ashton Taft finished with a total score of 168 to tie for 47th place overall. The freshman carded rounds of 83 and 85 at the 6,151-yard, par 72 layout.
Improving 18 strokes from her first round, sophomore Taylor Lamphier finished in 70th place with a 190 (104-86).
Sophomore Maggie Talbert competed in the invitational as an individual where she recorded a total score of 166 (79-87) to tie for 40th place.
The Mastodons will have a couple of weeks off to prepare for Northern Illinois' Huskie Classic on October 2nd and 3rd.
