Boese Sets Summit League Career Three-Point Mark, IPFW Bounces Western Illinois

FORT WAYNE, Ind. - Senior Anne Boese scored a game-high 20 points and set the all-time Summit League three-point career mark, as IPFW bounced Western Illinois 73-54 Saturday afternoon at the War Memorial Coliseum in Fort Wayne.
IPFW snaps a six-game skid with the win and moves to 5-10 overall (3-2 SL). Western Illinois falls to 5-9 (2-2 SL) this season.
Looking to set the tone early, IPFW jumped out to an 8-2 lead after picking up a pair of treys from Rachel Mauk and Boese. The 'Dons built their advantage to 11 at 19-7, when Erin Murphy attacked the basket, earned a foul and drained two free throws.
With 1:06 left in the opening half, Boese took a wide open shot from the perimeter and nailed a three-point attempt to make the score 32-23. The shot put Boese on top of the conference's all-time three-point career list, passing Brenna Doty's (Buffalo) mark of 262.
At halftime, IPFW held a seven-point lead of 32-25.
The Mastodons continued to push the tempo on offense and locked down on defense in the second half, increasing their lead to 13 at 49-36 with 10:33 left in the contest.
The 'Dons fed the post to Stephanie Rosado on numerous occasions in the final period, as the senior drained a layup with 4:13 left to put the home team up 66-50. With time winding down, Amanda Hyde netted the final basket for IPFW, helping the 'Dons to a 73-54 win.
IPFW never trailed in the contest and picked up 15 second chance points to Western Illinois' four. The Mastodons shot 43% (26-60) from the floor in the win.
Boese's 20 points led the 'Dons, as she now has scored 265 three-point shots in her four-year career. Rosado notched a double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds. Murphy totaled 18 points, while Sarah Haluska recorded 10.
The Mastodons return to action on Monday, Jan. 9 when they welcome IUPUI to the Gates Sports Center. Tip-off is set for 7:00 p.m. EST.
