IPFW Finishes in Ninth Place at Jackson State Frito Lay/Taco Bell Intercollegiate

PHIILADELPHIA, Miss. - The IPFW men's golf team finished in ninth place with a 36-hole team total of 637 (326-311) at the Jackson State Frito Lay/Taco Bell Intercollegiate Monday afternoon in Choctaw, Miss. The tournament was played at the challenging par 72, 7,128 yard Dancing Rabbit Golf Course.
The Mastodons fired a 311 in the final round, shooting 15 strokes better than Monday's first round.
IPFW was led on the final day by junior Drew Imel, who carded a 75 to go with an 82 from Monday to finish tied for 25th place overall.
Senior John McMillen (80-81) and freshman Jacob Groninger (84-77) finished the tournament tied for 35th place, as each totaled a two-day score of 161.
Senior Jacob Bailey tied for 38th place with a 162 (80-82), while sophomore Patrick Kundenreich rounded-out the Mastodon scoring with a 171(93-78).
McNeese State won the team title with a 603 (302-302), finishing two shots ahead of Georgia Southwestern and five in front of Savannah State.
J.P. Griffin of Georgia Southwestern and Brendon Caballero of UT-Martin won individual medalist honors, as each posted a 147.
The Mastodons will return to the course on March 4-7 at the Caribbean Intercollegiate in Ponce, Puerto Rico.
