Mastodons in 15th Place at Saluki Invitational

CARBONDALE, Ill. - The IPFW women's golf team completed the first day of the 18th annual Saluki Invitational in 15th place after a total score of 336 in Carbondale, Ill., at the Hickory Ridge Golf Course.
The host school, Southern Illinois, leads the 17-team field in first place with 301 while Iowa is in second place with 309. In a third-place tie, Northern Illinois and SIU Edwardsville each posted 317.
Freshman Allison Curtis leads the Mastodons after she posted an 8-over 80 for her lowest round of the spring season, thus far. Curtis stands in a tie for 26th place.
Junior Alyssa Turney finished the first 18 holes with an 82 to tie for 42nd place, while freshman Ashton Taft had her lowest round of the season and is one stroke behind Turney after she shot an 83 for a 51st place tie.
At the par-72, 6075 golf course, sophomore Maggie Talbert carded a 91 in the first round of the Saluki Invitational to stand in a two-way tie for 87th place.
Rounding out the lineup for the Mastodons is freshman Sydney Bailey. Bailey shot a round of 92 for a 89th place tie.
The Mastodons will return to action tomorrow with the second and final round in a 10 a.m. shotgun start.
