IPFW Ends Season with Tournament Loss to South Dakota State

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – The IPFW women's basketball team ended the 2011-12 season with a loss to No. 1 seed South Dakota State on Saturday afternoon in the Summit League Tournament. Sophomore Amanda Hyde scored a game-high 19 points for the Mastodons.
Hyde shot 5-of-9 from the floor and was a perfect 8-for-8 from the charity stripe. She also led the team in rebounds with six and in steals with three. Seniors Stephanie Rosado and Sarah Haluska also reached double figure scoring for IPFW. Rosado got off to a great start scoring the first four points of the game for the 'Dons. She ended the day with 17 points and five rebounds. Haluska hit two 3-point field goals on her way to a 10 point performance.
The inside presence of Jennie Sunnarborg and Katie Lingle paced the South Dakota State offense. Sunnarborg scored a team-high 14 points, while Lingle poured in 12 off the bench. Steph Paluch added 13 and Heiser dropped 10 in the win.
IPFW got off to a great start defensively as the Jackrabbits were held without a field goal until the 16 minute mark. Rosado got in the paint to give IPFW the lead, and a jumper made the game 4-0 early. Katie Lingle tied the game at 7-7 and South Dakota State would grab control of the lead with a 7-0 run capped off by a Paluch 3-point field goal.
The Jackrabbit lead would increase to 17 at halftime as IPFW shot just 26 percent compared to 53 percent for SDSU. Sunnarborg scored 12 of her 14 points in the opening half.
South Dakota State led by double figures for the entire second half. Their bench outscored IPFW 38-6 and they won the points in the paint category 34-18. IPFW was dialed in from the free throw line. The Mastodons were perfect hitting all 16 of their attempts.
Senior Anne Boese ended her outstanding career at IPFW with 301 career 3-point field goals. Boese hit one of her four attempts on Saturday ending the day with seven points. Rachael Mauk and Erin Murphy rounded out the scoring for IPFW.

Rosado moved into ninth place all-time on the IPFW career-scoring list. Her 17 points on Saturday gave her 1,254 in her career passing Jordan Zuppe. She also added two blocks in the game vs South Dakota State. She is the all-time career leader in blocked shots with 113.
