Mastodons Stand in Third Place after Round One at IPFW Spring Classic

FORT WAYNE, Ind. - In the first day of the third-annual IPFW Spring Classic, the IPFW women's golf team posted a total score of 331 to stand in third place at the Pine Valley Golf Course in Fort Wayne, Ind., on Sunday.
University of Indianapolis leads the 10-team field with a 322 while Chicago State is four strokes ahead of IPFW in second place with 327.
Freshman Allison Curtis and sophomore Maggie Talbert led the 'Dons at the invitational after they each carded first-round scores of 81 to tie for ninth place.
One stroke behind Curtis and Talbert is freshman Ashton Taft. Taft had a low-round of 82 at the par-71, 6042 golf course to tie for 12th place.
Freshman Sydney Bailey shot an 87 to tie for 30th place while junior Alyssa Turney stands tied for 38th place after she posted an 88 during the first 18 holes.
Playing as individuals, sophomore Taylor Lamphier shot a 91 to tie for 49th place while sophomore Meredith Holt was two strokes behind with 93 to tie for 55th place. Senior Tosha Embry finished with 94 to tie for 58th place on the first day. Junior Breanna Hatter rounded out the lineup for the Mastodons with a 96 for a 61st place tie.
IPFW will head back to the course on the final day of the IPFW Spring Classic tomorrow in a 10 a.m. shotgun start at the Pine Valley Golf Course.
