CHICAGO, Ill. - Behind a first-round 325, the IPFW Mastodons are tied for ninth place with Texas-Pan American, SIU Edwardsville and Summit League rival North Dakota State at the 2012 Cougar Golf Classic.
Behind IPFW in the standings are UIC (335), Lewis (335), Green Bay (336). IUPUI leads the field through the first day with a 309, with Indiana State (315), Cleveland State (316), Chicago State (318), Northern Illinois (320), Valparaiso (321), Loyola (321), and Eastern Illinois (324) round out the squads just ahead of the Mastodons.
Ashton Taft carded a first-round 77, placing her in a tie for 13th in the field, while Allison Curtis shot an 81 to have her sit in a tie for 31st overall. Taylor Lamphier carded the third-best score for IPFW with an 83, tying for 44th, as freshman Brenna Sherwood shot an 84 for a tie of 52nd.
Alyssa Turney shot one behind Sherwood with a 85 to place her 60th, as Sydney Bailey - playing as an individual - shot a first-round 87 for a tie of 67th in the field.
The Mastodons return to action on Tuesday in the final day of the Cougar Golf Classic.
