MUNCIE, Ind. - The IPFW Mastodon women's soccer team fell to 1-3 on the season with a 1-0 loss on a rainy afternoon against the Ball State Cardinals.

IPFW's struggle with Mid-American Conference teams continued, as the last 10 games against teams in the MAC have been decided by just one goal, with IPFW going just 1-9 in those contests, including two straight 1-0 losses to Ball State.

The Mastodons dominated the possession in the first half; however, could not put together a push at the goal, putting up just one shot in the first 45 minutes of the game, while Ball State put up eight shot attempts.

The Cardinals were able to string together a goal with just over 12 minutes left before halftime when Nicole Pembelton put a ball towards the goal, and was knocked around in front of the net before Paige Stroinski put a foot on the ball and put it into the back of the net, giving the hosts a 1-0 lead.

In the second half the 'Dons put together a number of strong runs, but could not find the back of the net on any, as the one-goal halftime lead held through the second half in a 1-0 Ball State victory.

Erin Gill had two shots for IPFW, both on goal, while Tylar Allison, Rhea Proctor, and Sydney Hoareau each had one attempt in the game. Freshman goalkeeper Sam Pavlika had four save attempts, giving up just the solitary goal, as she has given up only one goal in each of her teams' four games this season.

The Mastodons return to action on Friday, September 7, when the squad travels to Dayton, Ohio, to face off against the Wright State Raiders in a 7 p.m .kickoff.
