Mastodons and Aces to Battle at Hefner

FORT WAYNE, Ind. - The IPFW women's soccer team looks to improve on its 1-3 overall record on Sunday when the squad hosts the Evansville Aces at the Hefner Soccer Field at 1 p.m.

SCOUTING THE MASTODONS
The Mastodons come into Sunday's game after having their last game canceled because of lightning 10 minutes into a game that had already been delayed over an hour because of the weather.
Of IPFW's three losses, all have come via a 1-0 score, including losses to Butler, Toledo, and Ball State, while topping Indiana State 2-1.
Arianne Mason and Erin Gill have each scored a goal this season for IPFW, as Mason also has a team-high six shots, while three others - Gill, Maya Reyes, and Danielle Bishop - each have five shots. Tylar Allison has the team's only assist, giving her eight for her career, tied for the second most in IPFW women's soccer history, two away from tying the record of 10 held by Shacina Hersey (2000-03).
In goal this season for the Mastodons has been freshman Sam Pavlika, who has accumulated all 360 minutes, allowing just one goal per game (1.00 goals allowed per game average) with 14 saves.
SCOUTING THE PURPLE ACES
Evansville comes into the non-conference match-up having lost their last three games, 1-0 to Belmont, 4-0 to Purdue, and 2-1 to Eastern Illinois.
In the Eastern Illinois loss, the Purple Aces found themselves trailing 2-0 after back-to-back Panther goals 54:20 and 64:33 into the game, before Evansville ended the shutout attempt 83:50 when Stepanie Thompson dribbled in and scored from 20 yards out.
Thompson is one of three players to have scored a goal this season, as Kayla Smith and Kristen Davis have also each scored once. Abby Springer has an assist, the only assist for the Purple Aces this season. Thompson has a team-high 21 shot attempts in the six games, while Smith has 15 and Springer 13.
Chaviel Harrison has spent just over 431 minutes in goal this season, all but 19 minutes of the year. Harrison has a 2.51 goals against average, while picking up 30 saves to go with her 1-5 record and a shutout over Murray State.

Evansville and IPFW have met on the soccer pitch three previous times, with the Mastodons holding a slim 2-1 all-time advantage. The Mastodons won the first game of the series by a 5-0 count in 2003 in Fort Wayne, before Evansville came away with a 4-3 win in Evansville a year later. Last season the teams met in Evansville to the tune of a 1-0 IPFW victory.
