Volleyball Prepares to Square Off with the League's Top Teams

FORT WAYNE, Ind. - Three of the top four teams in the Summit League prepare to faceoff this weekend as the IPFW Mastodons welcome in Denver on Friday night and South Dakota on Saturday night. South Dakota currently sits atop of the Summit League with a 7-0 record while Denver is second at 6-1 while the 'Dons sit fourth at 3-4.

Denver comes to Fort Wayne with a single conference loss coming at the hands of South Dakota one week ago. The Pioneers were swept by the Coyotes but bounced back with back-to-back sweeps of Western Illinois and IUPUI.
The Pioneers boast the two best individual hitting percentages in the league with Brea Muhle hitting .474 while Sarah Schmid comes in hitting .367. Schmid also ranks among the nations best in blocks per set at 1.11. Denver's Nola Basey leads the Summit League in aces per set while Kate Acker is second in digs per set.
As a team, Denver is well rounded as they rank in the top-3 in the league in all six major categories. The Pioneers currently rank 18th in Division I in hitting percentage at a .272 clip. They also lead the league in assist per set while ranking second in kills, digs, aces and third in blocks.

South Dakota enters the weekend as the league leader with an undefeated 7-0 record. The Coyotes have swept four of their matches, with only their match versus IUPUI going all five sets. As a team, South Dakota leads the league in kills per set and blocks per set while sitting second in hitting percentage and assists per set.
The Coyotes are led by outside Kendall Kritenbrink who ranks second in the league in kills and kills per set behind IPFW's Emily Spencer. Kritenbrink ranks 6th in DI in points per set and 10th in kills per set. South Dakota setter Tori Kroll leads the Summit League with 10.7 assists per set which ranks 49th in DI.
