Track & Field Hosts Final Home Meet of Indoor Season

FORT WAYNE, Ind. - The IPFW Mastodons host their final indoor track meet of the 2013 season on Saturday afternoon when the host the Mastodon Invitational at the IPFW Athletics Center.

There will be six teams in the event including IUPUI, Western Michigan, Indiana Tech, St. Joseph's (Ind.), and St. Francis.
LAST TIME OUT
Two school records, in the shot put and 200-meter dash, and 19 total personal-bests came crashing down on Saturday afternoon, as the Mastodons hosted the IPFW Quadrangular at the Athletics Center Fieldhouse.
The meet, which was scored like multiple duel meets on the day, saw IPFW go 1-2-1 over the four "contests". IPFW topped Valparaiso 67-56, and tied Butler 56-56, while falling to Detroit 81-40 and Oakland 63-47.
Kaylin Taylor had a hand in one of the records, as she tied her own school record in the 200-meter dash with a time of 26.55. She also set a season-best in the 60-meter dash with a time of 8.26, and ran the opening leg on the 4x400-meter relay team with Emily Craig, Kayla Boyes, and Julie Jeszenszky. The relay team closed the event with a time of 4:11.70, the second-fastest such relay in school history.
Rachel Dincoff was the top finisher in the shot put with a heave of 47-feet, 7.75-inches, nearly five feet further than the next competitor, and breaking her own school record by nearly three inches. Kayla Zink placed third with a toss of 40-11 (12.47 meters). Alyssa Kopp set a new personal best with a toss of 38-11 (11.86 meters), placing fourth, with Lizzy Frazze taking fifth with a toss of 38-9.5 (11.82 meters), placing fifth. Laura Moynahan (35-4.50/10.78 meters) placed 10th, Kaeleigh Porter (34-8.25/10.57 meters) took 12th, and Brianna Whitehead (32-7.5/9.94 meters) claimed 15th place in the field.
Katy Moore placed second in the high jump, clearing 5-1 (1.55 meters), tied for the ninth-highest clearance in school history. Craig, in addition to having a hand in the relay split, ran the sixth-fastest 400-meter in school history as she crossed the finish line in the two-lap race in a time of 1:01.58.
Zink placed second in the weight throw with the second-best toss in school history, a distance of 51-5.75 (15.69 meters). Porter took fourth with a personal-best toss of 49-1.5, the fourth-longest throw in school history, with Dincoff placing fifth with a toss of 44-6. Moynahan (8th/38-6) and Frazze (11th/35-9.50) each set personal bests, while Alyssa Kopp was not far from her best with a toss of 38-5.5, placing ninth.
Jeszenszky and Boyes, two more members of the relay team, were the top two IPFW finishers in both the 800-meter and mile runs. Jeszenszky ran to a time of 5:17.22 for a personal-best in the mile, placing fourth, while Boyes placed sixth with a time of 5:21.34, also a personal best. Andrea Bell and Katie Simmons each set personal-bests with times of 5:23.92 and 5:43.16, respectively.
The junior pair then placed seventh and eighth, with Jeszenszky again leading the pair with a time of 2:23.71, while Boyes followed less than a second later with a time of 2:24.40. Alexa Brown set a personal-best with a time of 2:33.21, as Nicole Dailey(14th/2:45.09), Nichole Wormcastle (15th/2:46.32) and Alexis Minier (16th/2:52.62) rounded out the 'Dons in the field.
Bell led a quartet of Mastodons in the 3,000-meter run with a personal-best 10:38.45, placing fourth, with Simmons placing eighth in a time of 11:44.44, also a personal-best. Rebecca Jacobs and Rachel Zachar each competed in both the 3,000- and 5,000-meter runs, Jacobs leading in the 3,000 with a time of 11:30.08 with Zachar clocking an 11:31.11. Zachar returned the favor in the 5,000 with a time of 19:23.67, while Jacobs crossed the line in a time of 19:49.62.
