Women's Golf Improves in Benbow Final Round

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The IPFW Mastodon women's golf team bettered their first-round score by 17 strokes on Tuesday afternoon, carding a final-round 341 at the Benbow Invitational hosted by Butler University.
The Mastodons carded a 341 on their final round and 699 for the tournament. IUPUI took home tournament championship honors with a 637, while Cleveland State (645), Appalachian State (645), Butler (650), and Evansville (660) rounded out the top five teams in the field.
Alyssa Turney shot a team-best 82 in the second round, giving her a 174 for the tournament, good for a tie of 37th place. Allison Curtis was the top weekend finisher for IPFW, as her final-round 86 put her with 170 strokes over the two days, placing in a tie for 28th.
Brenna Sherwood shot a second-round 87 for a 175 over the tournament good for 40th place in the field. Ashton Taft rounded out the scoring four for IPFW in the second round with an 86, 16 strokes better than her first-day score, placing 55th. Taylor Lampier also shot better, by two strokes, with a final-round 92 and a 186 for the tournament.
Playing as an individual, Sydney Bailey tied for 48th place with a two-round 181 (95-86).
The Mastodons return to action on Wednesday, March 13, when the squad competes in the Bulldog Florida Invitational hosted at the Windsor Parke Golf Club.
