Mastodons Improve to Third at Bulldog Florida Invitational

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The Mastodons improved two strokes and climbed into a tie for third place after the final round of the Bulldog Florida Invitational, hosted by Butler University at Windsor Parke Golf Club.
IPFW shot a 328 on the second day for a two-round total of 658. Alabama State took home the team title in the event with a 618, while Butler took second with a 632, and the Mastodons tied Wooster with a 658. Florida A&M rounded out the top five with a 660.
The highest finisher for the Mastodons in the event was Dan Wert, who was playing in the tournament as an individual. Wert opened the tournament with a 76, and shot a 77 to close the tournament, putting him in a tie for second place in the field.
Drew Imel shot a final-round 77, best among the five scoring players on the team, giving him a two-round score of 160, tied for 11th. Bruno Carvalho, after a first-round 78, carded a final-18 score of 79, putting him at a team-low 157 for the tournament, and in a tie for seventh overall.
Drake Devereux' final round 83 put him at a 173, good for 35th in the field, as Jacob Groninger shot an 89, posting the final scoring total for the Mastodon squad. His final round put him at a 168 for the tournament, in a tie for 28th overall.
Oliver Gibson carded a final-round 92 for a tournament-total of 185 and a tie for 45th overall, as Logan Barker shot a second-straight round of 86 as an individual, as his 172 for the two rounds put him in a tie for 33rd.
The Mastodons return to action on March 24 when the squad competes at the C&F Bank Intercollegiate at the Kingsmill Resort, in Williamsburg, Va.
