Mastodon Women's Golf Takes Fourth at Bulldog Florida Invitational

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Behind a second round team score of 341, the second best team score on the round, and fourth best score of the tournament, the IPFW Mastodons climbed to fourth at the Bulldog Florida Invitational, hosted by Butler University.
The Mastodons rebounded from their opening-round 366 to shoot 25 strokes better in the finale, earning a 707 over the two rounds good for fourth place in the field. Butler was the team champion, winning their own event with a 649, while Alabama State shot a 681, and Eastern Illinois 692 to finish ahead of IPFW, while California Baptist shot a 718, good for fifth overall.
Sydney Bailey paced the squad with an 82, earning herself an 11th place finish with a 171 tournament score. Allison Curtis shot an 84 for IPFW in the final round, shooting a two-round score of 180 for 21st place.
Alyssa Turney's final round 87 gave her a tournament score of 175, tied for 16th, as Ashton Taft carded an 88 for a 181 two-round score, tying for 22nd. Brenna Sherwood rounded out the Mastodons on the official team card with a final round 100, giving her a 196 for the tournament, placing 31st.
Playing as an individual, Taylor Lamphier carded a final-round 96, shooting a 188 for the two rounds, placing 27th overall.
The Mastodons are next on the course on March 24, when the squad will travel to Carbondale, Ill. to compete in the Saluki Invitational at the Hickory Ridge Golf Course.
