Mastodons Take 10th at Home Invitational

FORT WAYNE, Ind. - A second-round 330 put the Mastodons into 10th place at the 2013 IPFW Spring Invitational, hosted at Brookwood Golf Club, as the team was led by freshman Brenna Sherwood for the second straight round.
The Mastodons' two-day total of 653 was one stroke away from ninth-place Evansville's 652 total. Indianapolis won the event with a 616, with Detroit (624), Northern Illinois (627), Dayton (628), SIU Edwardsville (629), Oakland (638), Valparaiso (644), and Loyola (649) finished just ahead of IPFW in the field.
Sherwood's second round 79 was the lowest on the squad, as her two-day total of 155 put her in a tie for seventh in the field. Allison Curtis shot an 81 in the second round, for a 159 total, tied for 20th overall. Ashton Taft and Sydney Bailey each carded two-day totals of 170 for third and fourth in the IPFW lineup, closing out the scoring players for the 'Dons.
Alyssa Turney's 173 saw her tie for 55th, while playing as individuals, Taylor Lamphier (172) and Breanna Hatter (173) placed 54th and 60th, respectively in the field.
The Mastodons take a weekend off before returning to action on April 13 and 14 when the squad competes in the Dolores Black Falcon Invitational, hosted by Bowling Green at Stone Ridge G.C.
