Women's Golf Closes Eighth at Chicago State Invite

CHICAGO - Behind Allison Curtis' second-round 78, the IPFW Mastodons placed eighth at the Cougar Golf Classic hosted by Chicago State University.
IPFW's second round score of 323 gave them a 641 for the tournament, less than 10 strokes out of fifth place. Host Chicago State took the team title with a 609, while Indiana State (612) and Detroit (617) took second and third. Cleveland State (622), Texas-Pan American (632), Loyola (635), and Northern Illinois (638) finished just ahead of IPFW in the tournament. Dayton (648), Creighton (649), UIC (650), Eastern Illinois (655), and Green Bay (662) rounded out the 13 teams in the field.
Curtis' 78 gave him a two-round score of 157, good for a tie of 19th place in the tournament. First-round team leader Brenna Sherwood shot an 84, a total of 162, tying with teammate Ashton Taft (80-82) for 32nd place in the field.
Taylor Lamphier's second round 81 gave her the second-best score on the team on the second day, and her 164 put her in 45th place in the field while Sydney Bailey's 82 on day two took her to 163 for the tournament, and 40th place in the event.
The Mastodons return to the course next weekend when the squad competes at the SIUE Doubletree Intercollegiate, hosted by SIU Edwardsville.
