
Curtis Leads Women's Golf to Seventh Place Standing

ROUND ONE RESULTS
EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. - IPFW junior Allison Curtis carded a first-round 83, as the remainder of the squad was within four of the top total, and the strong Mastodon showing has the team sitting in seventh place after the first round of the SIUE Intercollegiate.
IPFW totaled 340 strokes for the first round, 13 strokes out of fourth place. Lipscomb leads the field on day one with 321 strokes, while Omaha and Valparaiso are each tied at 324. Host SIU Edwardsville (327), Western Illinois (329), and Evansville (336) are just ahead of the Mastodons, while Tennessee State (353), Eastern Illinois (356), and Ashford (363) close out the 10 teams in the field.
Curtis carded nine-hole scores of 42 and 41 for her 83, placing in a tie for 19th, while Brenna Sherwood continued her strong sophomore campaign with an 85, good for a tie of 24th place.
Ashton Taft and Taylor Lampher each tied for 26th in the field with an 86, as Sydney Bailey rounded out the team's top five with an 87, tying for 31st place of the 60 golfers in the field.
The squad returns to the course tomorrow morning for the second and final round of the tournament.
