Women's Golf Fifth After First Round In Tennessee

CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. - After the first round of the F&M Bank APSU Intercollegiate, the IPFW women's golf team is in fifth place with a score of 320.
Hosted by Austin Peay at the par-72 Clarksville Country Club, the tournament is being played at 5,960 yards. Belmont and Murray State are tied atop the team leaderboard after day one with scores of 301, respectively. Whitney Robertson of Tennessee Tech carded an even-par 72 to lead the 62-player field.
The Mastodons currently sit nine strokes back of fourth place Austin Peay.
For IPFW, only one stroke separates Brenna Sherwood and Allison Curtis, as the two recorded scores of 76 and 77 for the round. Sherwood currently sits in a tie for 11th place while Curtis is tied for 13th. Monica Dorner shot an opening round 80 to tie for 27th. Ashton Taft stands alone in 54th place after 18 holes with a score of 87. Playing in her first collegiate tournament, freshman Madison Chesnutt carded a 94 for the round and finished the day tied for 60th place.
The final round of the F&M Bank APSU Intercollegiate will be a 9:30 a.m. shotgun start on October 14.
