Volleyball Drops Road Match At IUPUI

INDIANAPOLIS - The IPFW women's volleyball team dropped its road match to Summit League foe IUPUI 3-1 (25-16, 24-26, 25-14, 25-15). The loss drops the Mastodons to 10-14 on the season and 4-5 in league play.
Emily Spencer led IPFW with her 15th double-double of the season, finishing the match with 17 kills and 14 digs. It also marked the 45th consecutive match for Spencer in double-digit kills. Somer Johnson added 12 kills while Natasha Medic and Sarah Heckman each added six. Medic led the 'Dons with a match-high five blocks.
Defensively, Olivia Hahn made 10 digs while Este Stoffel and Kendall Wienkes added seven each. Madison Spence led the Mastodons with 26 assists on the night.
Trailing 9-4 in the opening set, IPFW made a 6-1 run to tie the score at 10-10. The Jaguars regained the lead for good with a 6-1 run of their own. In the second frame, after IUPUI took the opening point, the 'Dons scored the next three and never trailed again.
The third set was all IUPUI as it jumped out to a 7-2 lead and never looked back. It was a similar fate for the Mastodons in the fourth set as the Jaguars started on a 6-1 run and the 'Dons were unable to recover.
IPFW returns home for a match against Western Illinois on October 26 at 2 p.m.
