Women's Golf Leads After First Round In Florida

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - After the first round of the Bulldog Florida Invitational the IPFW women's golf teams leads the field of nine teams, carding a 323, seven shots ahead of Chicago State and Youngstown State.
Hosted by Butler University at the par-72 Windsor Parke Golf Club, the course is being played at 5,807 yards. Aislynn Merling of Youngstown State is the first-day individual leader, shooting a 5-over-par 77 for the round.
Leading the way for IPFW in a tie for second after the opening round is Sydney Bailey who carded a 78. Sitting in a tie for sixth after shooting a round of 80 is Brenna Sherwood. Taylor Lamphier sits one shot back in a tie for 8th after shooting an 81 to start the tournament. Allison Curtis finished her round with an 84, tying for 14th. Rounding out the team scoring for the Mastodons was Ashton Taft firing an 85 for the day, tied for 20th.
Playing as an individual for the 'Dons is Candi Keller, who sits in 50th place after shooting a 102 for the round.
IPFW returns to the course tomorrow, March 13, for the final round of the tournament.
