CARBONDALE, Ill. - The IPFW women's golf team sits in eighth place after shooting an opening-round 326 at the Saluki Invitational.
Hosted by Southern Illinois University at the par-72 Hickory Ridge Golf Course, the course is being played at 6,017 yards. The Salukis hold a two-stroke lead with a 309 on the round. Kayla Katterhenry of Evansville shot a first round tournament record 69 to sit atop the 83-player leaderboard.
The Mastodons sit six shots out of third place behind Chicago State, followed by Washington-St. Louis, IUPUI, Western Illinois, and Evansville.
Allison Curtis led the 'Dons with a 75 to sit in fifth place on the day. In a tie for 32nd is Taylor Lamphier, carding an 83 for the round. Sitting one stroke back and tied for 39th are Brenna Sherwood and Sydney Bailey. Ashton Taft rounds out the scoring for IPFW with a 96 on the afternoon, tying for 76th place.
The final round of the Saluki Invitational will be a 9 a.m. shotgun start on March 31 at the Hickory Ridge Golf Course.
