
IPFW to Face UIC in Final Exhibition Match

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The IPFW women's soccer team will travel to Chicago on Saturday to take on UIC at 8:30 p.m. at Flames Field. It will be the first women's soccer match hosted by the Flames, who are kicking off the inaugural year of the program at the university.

SCOUTING THE MASTODONS
The Mastodons used a come-from-behind effort in their exhibition opener against Northern Illinois on Tuesday night to overcome a one-goal deficit and play to a 1-1 draw.
In her first collegiate action, freshman midfielder Taylor Pavlika netted a penalty kick in the second half to secure the tie. The 'Dons out-shot the Huskies 14-10, while sophomore forward Andie Lazzerini led the team with three shots on the night.
Goalkeeper Sam Pavlika, who enters her third year as the starter for the Mastodons, recorded one save in 36 minutes in the opener.
SCOUTING THE FLAMES
In their respective exhibition opener, the Flames gave up two early goals at Bowling Green, but UIC responded with two goals of their own to earn a 2-2 draw.
A pair of freshmen was responsible for the Flames' offense against the Falcons. Forward Emily Wauer knocked in the first goal and led UIC with three shots on goal for the game. Midfielder Emi Yamamoto scored off a penalty kick in the 68th minute to knot the score at 2.
NEXT UP
IPFW, under the direction of first-year head coach Jason Burr, will begin the regular season on the road at Ball State at 5 p.m. on Friday, August 22.
