Taft Leads Women's Golf After First Round In Green Bay

GREEN BAY, Wis. - With the first round of the season in the books, the IPFW women's golf team sits in a tie for second place after the first round of the Phoenix Invitational with a team score of 316.

Hosted by Green Bay at the par-73 Green Bay Country Club, the course is being played at 5,898 yards. Indianapolis leads by strokes five strokes after day one with a team score of 311. Paxton DeHaven of Indianapolis sits atop the individual leaderboard with a first round score for 1-under-par 72.

Ashton Taft paced the Mastodons after 18 holes in fifth place, shooting a 4-over-par 77. Allison Curtis sits one shot back in a tie for sixth place carding a 78 for the afternoon. Brenna Sherwood and Sydney Bailey are separated by only one stroke, shooting an 80 and 81 respectively. Monica Dorner wrapped up her first round as a collegiate golfer with an 82 to sit in a tie for 16th place.

IPFW heads back out on the course for the second round of the Phoenix Invitational beginning at 9:30 a.m. on September 8.
