Sherwood Leads Mastodons After Day One of Dayton Invite

KETTERING, Ohio - IPFW women's golfer Brenna Sherwood sits in the top-10 heading into the final round of the Dayton Fall Invitational as the Mastodons ended day one tied for 13th with a team score of 337.
Hosted by Dayton at the par-70, 5,869-yard NCR Country Club - North Course, Grand Valley leads the tournament by seven strokes with a 304 on the day. Kasey Petty of Findlay carded a 1-over-par 71 to lead the 90-player field.
Sherwood recorded a pair of birdies on the round, shooting a 7-over-par 77 to end the day tied for ninth place. Separated by one shot are Jenna Kurosky and Abigail Carlsen with scores of 85 and 86, respectively. Kurosky ended the day tied for 57th while Carlsen is tied for 60th overall. Candi Keller and Monica Dorner finish their rounds tied for 78th with scores of 89.
Madison Chesnutt and Paige Bird competed as individuals for IPFW. Chesnutt heads into the final day tied for 72nd after shooting an 88 while Bird sits in 86th place with a score of 93.
The final round of the Dayton Fall Invitational will begin at 10 a.m. on October 20.
