FORT WAYNE, Ind. - The IPFW women's volleyball team fell to Oral Roberts Friday night at home 3-1 (25-21, 25-22, 22-25, 25-14).
Nicole Rightnowar earned her fifth double-double of the season with 19 kills, a career-high, and 10 digs, both team-highs. Somer Johnson finished the match with 11 kills, while Madison Jaqua had 40 assists for the night.
The first set went to the Oral Roberts after the teams went point-for-point until the very end. Rightnowar's seven kills in the first set alone were not enough to overcome Golden Eagles.
Oral Roberts took the second set, even after the Mastodons had a five-point lead nearing the end of the frame. The 'Dons had an early lead that hey held onto until ORU came back from a 20-15 deficit with a 10-2 run.
The Mastodons and the Golden Eagles were tied 13 times in the third set as the teams rallied back and forth until IPFW clenched the set with a kill by Sarah Heckman.
The 'Dons had an early lead of 6-5 over the Oral Roberts in the fourth set, but a 13-5 run by Oral Roberts closed out the match.
IPFW is back in action on November 1 at South Dakota State for a 2 p.m. ET match.
