
Women's Golf Third After Opening Round 322

WARREN, Ohio - The IPFW women's golf squad finished its first day at the Roseann Schwartz Invitational in third place with a team score of 322.
Hosted by Youngstown State at the par-72, 6,081-yard Avalon Golf and Country Club, Akron holds a 10-stroke lead after day one. Danielle Nicholson of Akron sits atop the 30-player field by one stroke after carding an even-par 72.
The Mastodons finished the opening round 11 strokes behind second place Youngstown State and nine strokes better than fourth place St. Francis (Pa.).
Brenna Sherwood paced the 'Dons on the afternoon carding a 5-over-par 77 to head into the final round tied for fifth. Monica Dorner sits just outside the top-10 after shooting an opening-round 80 to end the day in 11th place. Tied for 14th after 18 holes is Jenna Kurosky, carding an 82 for the day. Sitting one stroke back in a tie for 18th is Candi Keller. Madison Chesnutt rounded out the team scoring for IPFW with an 86 to tie for 23rd.
Playing as an individual, Paige Bird finished her day with a round of 85 to finish tied for 21st.
The final round of the Roseann Schwartz Invitational will be an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start on October 5.
