TULSA, Okla. - The IPFW women's volleyball team dropped the final match of its three-game road swing, falling to Oral Roberts 3-0 (25-22, 25-18, 25-22).
Somer Johnson and Madison Jaqua each had a double-double on the afternoon. Johnson led the Mastodons with 15 kills to go along with 11 digs. Jaqua dished out a team-high 19 assists and added 10 digs.
Nicole Rightnowar had nine kills for the 'Dons while Lauren Hoffman contributed with six. Olivia Hahn finished with a match-high 13 digs. Natalie Seiler led the team with four blocks, two of which were solo.
IPFW scored an early first-set lead on the Golden Eagles, 3-1. Oral Roberts responded with five consecutive points and 12 of the next 15 to take the opening frame. Down by three early in the second set, the Mastodons battled back to take a 13-12 lead on a block by Monica Hall. With the score tied 14-14, ORU used a 10-2 run to win the set.
Johnson gave IPFW the first point of the third set, but that would be their only lead of the frame. The 'Dons knotted the score eight times down the stretch, but were unable to overcome the early deficit. Tied 14-14, Oral Roberts scored back-to-back points as a late 8-2 Mastodon rally was not enough.
IPFW returns home to take on North Dakota State on October 9 at 7 p.m.
