Fisher Scores 27 Points as Mastodons Rout Grace

FORT WAYNE, Ind. - In her second collegiate game, freshman Josie Fisher scored a game-high 27 points to lead the IPFW women's basketball team to a 91-39 victory over Grace. The victory improves the Mastodons series record to 14-2 against the Lancers.
Fisher ended the game with three steals and three assists in addition to her 27 points, going 10-of-14 from the field, and was a perfect 6-of-6 at the free throw line. Fisher's 27 points ties her for the fifth most in a single game by an IPFW freshman.
Kamilah Carter scored 17 points for the Mastodons, shooting 7-of-8, including 3-of-4 from beyond the arc. KeShyra McCarver added in 10 points and pulled down a game-high nine rebounds. Peyton Fallis connected on 6-of-9 from the floor, scored a season-high 13 points, while adding four rebounds.
Rachel Rinehart made a game-high seven assists, scored nine points, and pulled down six rebounds for the night, while De'Jour Young made a season- and game-high five steals.
After both teams were scoreless for the first 2:32 of the game, IPFW went on a 19-5 run early in the first quarter. Carter closed out the first period the same way she opened it up, hitting a triple from downtown, giving the 'Dons a 26-13 advantage. The Mastodons outscored Grace 24-6 in the second quarter sending them into the half leading 50-19.
Fisher opened the second half with a layup and was seemingly unstoppable as she scored 13 points in the third quarter alone. IPFW's largest lead came in the fourth with a 60-point advantage over the Lancers with 3:18 left in regulation.
As a team, the Mastodons went 38-of-68 (55.9%) on field goals, including 6-of-14 (42.9%) from beyond the arc, and were a perfect 9-of-9 at the charity stripe.
IPFW returns to action on November 19 when it hosts Kent State for a 7 p.m. tip-off.
