IPFW Opens Season 3-0 After Defeating Kent State 86-68

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The IPFW women's basketball team picked-up its third regular season win with an 86-68 victory over Kent State at the Gates Sports Center. This is the first 3-0 start for the Mastodons since the 1999-2000 season.
Kamilah Carter scored a game-high 19 points and had five assists, while Courtney Ogle finished with 16 points, going 4-4 from beyond the arc. KeShyra McCarver and Selena Lozada scored 10 points each, as McCarver added five assists.
Rachel Rinehart had a game-high three steals, to go along with four assists and five rebounds. Josie Fisher had a team-high seven rebounds and five assists.
IPFW opened the game with a 3-pointer by Ogle, while the Mastodon defense held Kent State without a field goal until the 5:03 mark. The 'Dons had foul trouble early on, but were able to go into the half with a 41-30 lead over the Golden Flashes.
The third quarter saw the Mastodons go on a 13-3 run, making 6-of-7 from beyond the arc, to take their largest lead of the night, 24 points, with 3:06 to play in the period. IPFW held onto a double-digit lead the rest of the way.
The Mastodons connected on 33-of-64 (51.6%) of their field goal attempts, including 12-24 (50.0%) from long range, and 8-of-18 (44.4%) at the free throw line.
IPFW women's basketball is back in action on November 21 against USC Upstate at noon. The game is part of a double header at the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum with the men's team, who will take on SIUE at 2:30 p.m.
