Carter Scores a Game-High 19 Points as Mastodons Fall to WMU
11/29/2015 4:24:00 PM | Women's Basketball
FORT WAYNE, Ind. - Kamilah Carter led the IPFW women's basketball team with a game-high 19 points, but it was not enough for the Mastodons to overcome Western Michigan as they fell 70-48 at home.
Peyton Fallis tied a season-high with 13 points and had a career-high three steals. Keanna Gary came off the bench to record a career-high 13 rebounds in 21 minutes of play.
IPFW trailed Western Michigan 20-4 in the first quarter after going scoreless for over seven minutes. The Mastodons cut the Bronco's lead to single digits in the second quarter with a jumper from Carter, making the score 28-19 with 1:59 to play.
The 'Dons were unable to find their groove as they came into the second half, being outscored 27-12 in the third quarter. Fallis scored eight points in the fourth alone, over half of the Mastodons points for the quarter, but it was not enough to help cut into Western Michigan's lead.
The Mastodons connected on 28-of-60 (30.0%) of their field goal attempts, including 5-of-19 (26.3%) from three-point range, and 7-of-13 (53.8%) at the free throw line.
IPFW heads out on the road for the first time this season with a game on December 3 at Ohio for an 11 a.m. tip-off.
