Women's Basketball Unable to Overcome Slow Start at Ohio

ATHENS, Ohio - The IPFW women's basketball team attempted its most shots in over a decade, but were only able to convert 27.5 percent for the game, as the Mastodons fell to Ohio 79-52.
The 'Dons attempted 80 shots, which are tied for seventh most in program history, and are the most since putting up 81 at Wright State on Nov. 24, 2004. For the day, IPFW connected on 22-of-80 (27.5%) shots, 1-of-21 (4.8%) on 3-point attempts, and 7-of-13 (53.8%) at the line.
IPFW was led by Josie Fisher with 18 points to go along with a game-high four steals. De'Jour Young finished with 10 points while tying a game-high with seven rebounds, and a team-high three assists. Courtney Ogle also finished with seven rebounds.
The Bobcats jumped out to an early lead as they began the game on a 6-0 run before leading by 19 points, 21-2, with 3:08 left in the opening quarter. The Mastodons fought back to begin the second quarter, opening on a 12-2 run, including 11 straight, to pull within seven, 29-22.
Ohio used a 12-2 run near the end of the first half, as the 'Dons trailed 44-28 at the break. A 14-2 Bobcat advantage to begin the third quarter put the game out of reach as IPFW was outscored 21-8 in the period. The Mastodons held a 16-14 advantage in the fourth quarter over the Bobcats, but were unable to close the gap, despite forcing a season-high 29 turnovers for their opponent.
IPFW now travels to Northern Kentucky for a 7 p.m. game on November 5.
