Women's Golf In Fourth After First Round

CARBONDALE, Ill. - After the opening round of the Saluki Invitational, the IPFW women's golf team sits in fourth place with a score of 340.
Hosted by South Illinois at the par-72 Hickory Ridge Golf Course, the tournament is being played at 6,018 yards. After 18 holes, SIUE holds a seven-stroke lead over the host Salukis with a 318. Mattie Lindner of Southern Illinois leads the 62-player field with a 2-over-par 74.
The 'Dons are seven strokes back of the Southern Illinois second team, but lead Summit League rival Omaha by five strokes.
Three Mastodons led the way on the day as Ashton Taft, Allison Curtis, and Brenna Sherwood all carded rounds of 84. The Trio ended the day tied for 17th overall. Wrapping up her day in a tie for 35th is Sydney Bailey, shooting an 88. Rounding out the team scoring for the 'Dons is Madison Chesnutt who fired a 91 to head into the final round in a tie for 46th place.
The final round of the Saluki Invitational will be a 10 a.m. shotgun start on March 30.
