Curtis Leads IPFW After First Round of Spring Classic

FORT WAYNE, Ind. - The final regular season tournament of the season for the IPFW women's golf team is being played on the Mastodon's home course as the team plays host the two-day IPFW Spring Classic. After the first round, the IPFW Blue team sits in sixth place with a score of 325 while the White team is in 11th shooting a 367.
Hosted by IPFW at the par-71 Pine Valley Country Club, the course is being played at 6,011 yards. Indianapolis has a six-stroke lead, shooting a team score of 302. Aislynn Merling of Youngstown State leads the 64-player field by two strokes after shooting a 1-over-par 72.
Allison Curtis led the Blue team carding a 79 on the day to sit in a tie for 14th place. Two strokes back in a tie for 23rd are Sydney Bailey and Ashton Taft with rounds of 81, respectively. Monica Dorner fired an 84 on the afternoon and currently sits in a tie for 31st position. Brenna Sherwood rounded out the scoring for the Blue team with a score of 87 and is tied for 43rd place.
For the White team, Madison Chesnutt paced the 'Dons with an 85 for the round and is tied for 38th. Candi Keller and Maggie Connelly finished the day tied for 54th, each carding rounds of 92. Capping off the scoring for the White team was Jenna Kurosky in 64th position, shooting a 98 for the afternoon.
The final round of the IPFW Spring Classic will be a 10 a.m. shotgun start.
