Sixth Annual Spring Classic Comes to a Close

FORT WAYNE, Ind. - The rains held off for the final round of the IPFW Spring Classic as the Mastodon Blue team finished sixth with a team score of 637 while the White team placed 11th with a combined score of 705.
Hosted by IPFW at the par-71 Pine Valley Country Club, the course was played at 6,011 yards. Indianapolis took home the team title shooting a score of 600. Aislynn Merling of Youngstown State captured individual medalist honors with a 6-over-par 148.
For the Blue team, Sydney Bailey fired a team-best final round 4-over-par 75 to finish in a tie for 14th place overall with a two-day score of 156. Ashton Taft finished tied for 21st, carding a 36-hole score of 159. Allison Curtis finished one stroke back in a tie for 23rd. Brenna Sherwood improved by nine strokes from round one to finish with a total score of 165 and tie for 35th. Monica Dorner rounded out the Blue team scoring with a 167 to finish in 42nd place.
All four White team golfers improved their scores from the opening round. Madison Chesnutt paced the squad with a 168 to finish tied for 43rd. Candi Keller turned in a 175 for the tournament and finished 53rd overall. Jenna Kurosky shot 17 strokes better on the final day to place 57th with a score of 179. Maggie Connelly wrapped up the team White scoring with a 183 to end the tournament in 61st place.
With the regular season now complete, IPFW turns its attention to the Summit League Championship April 20-22 in Seaside, California.
